I start with a few questions. What are you willing to do for greatness? Are you willing to destroy yourself and others to create an epochal piece of art? Could one handle the toll artistic creation can bring?
maybe ally...sees "The Life & Slimes of Marc Summers".
Where do I begin with this beautiful show about the one and only Marc Summers? From his beginnings as a page on a variety of TV shows to his time hosting the world-famous Double Dare there wasn't any sugar coating to this story. One where in many cases I was shocked to learn new things about the man I had never known.

What a triumph. I had to start there. What the entire company manages to do in the time spent with you is nothing short of incredible. I grabbed my ticket for The Outsiders after a run in with one of its stars on a random day in February on the subway. I had been debating it.

I FINALLY made it. For the longest time I'd wanted to see this show and I was finally able to make it work. The only caveat is that I'd be seeing 2/3 leads. Still, I had to make a decision. Miss Groff or Miss Radcliffe. I had to make a choice. April Ally is so happy February Ally decided to see the show with Daniel Radcliffe. I had more than enough people tell me to make that move. Now don't fret. I still won. I've seen Jonathan in plenty over the years but I got to see Corey Mach do his thing and WOW. Just wow. Exceptional work. A wonderful Frank.

Celebrated the opening of @stalkershownyc last night at the beautiful Hard Rock Hotel! After some light bites and really good drinks, we were treated to a few tricks by Brynolf & Ljung the two performers who truly have you guessing & saying “How’d they do that?”. Then we were off to see the show!

You gotta come into this knowing you're about to be dazzled. Much like the film, it's a spectacle but in all the good ways. You will be wowed. I'd be concerned if you weren't. The music was great. I loved how my audience would get tickled when a song would begin. Unsure of how the arrangement of a song so well known would go. I loved to look around and see happy faces rediscover their favorite tunes in new ways. I'll never hear Bad Romance the same way!!!

You've got just a few weeks more to catch Sweeney Todd as it's closing once Aaron Tveit & Sutton Foster end their run. So if you've got the chance I definitely recommend going. Sometimes with some shows, I don't fully get the hype. It isn't until I see the full spectacle that I realize it. That's what happened here. I grabbed coffee after and had to absorb it.
maybe ally…sees “Monty Python’s Spamalot”.
Back in 2005, I was a freshman in college and making crazy life choices so I didn't get to see the original Broadway production. After a lot of tours and a stint on the West End later we got to the 2023 revival and I grabbed tickets thankfully just a few weeks shy before its closure (too early if you ask me! Even if it was a limited engagement!).
maybe ally…sees “Little Shop of Horrors”.
It was my first time seeing the show with Darren Criss & Evan Rachel Wood. Both of them were perfectly cast but more importantly, perfectly cast — together. They made a wonderful pair and anytime you see Seymour & Audrey together it is quite magnetic.
maybe ally…sees “Days of Wine & Roses”.
What a beautiful & rich show. Rich in its performances (Brian D’Arcy James & Kelli O’Hara are exceptional) but also rich in its subject matter and storytelling. As someone who's lived a very similar life (hyper-independence due to a family who weren't always taking care of themselves as they should), I found this musical to be quite the reflection on rebuilding family & quite the damnation of alcoholism.
maybe ally…sees “Girl From the North Country”.
So I didn't get the chance to see this off-broadway in 2018 and certainly didn't get to in 2020 when it made its Broadway debut but I always kept this musical in the back of my mind. So when I accidentally entered a lottery for tickets a few things happened:
I realized what I’d done and sorta kicked myself a bit.
I made a plan in case I won… and then I won.
maybe ally…sees “Titanique”.
You have to listen to people when they tell you to run to a show. You especially listen when it's people who don't nor ally do musical theatre but had a blast! So what did I do? I ran and saw @titaniquemusical and let me just say I didn't stop laughing for 90 minutes straight!
maybe ally…sees “The Play that Goes Wrong”.
Go into this play blind. No really go into this play not knowing a thing and you'll be all the better for it. The laughter that comes from your body will be completely genuine and probably unhinged.
maybe ally…sees “Kimberly Akimbo”.
You know that feeling you have when a show finishes and you wish you could see it for the 1st time again? That's how I felt after seeing @akimbomusical on Broadway the other night. Goodness me did I feel loved, warm, & so happy to be in this life and willing to live it to the fullest. That's what Kimberly Akimbo does to you. Especially that ending. Never felt more at ease with how I approach the world and all the things I wanna do in it.
maybe ally…sees “MJ The Musical:.
First things first. I have never been able to take someone to their first musical ever. The pressure! But I knew that this was special and deserved what is easily for me the best show on Broadway @mjthemusical and let me tell you the look on the man's face after the show said it all. Happy to have given you a birthday to remember @makethecaul!!!
maybe ally…sees “Harmony: A New Musical”
This show is poignant and thought-provoking. It's on Broadway at the right time and can present some interesting conversations after the fact. We follow The Comedian Harmonists on their rise to fame in Europe during the 1920s through the early war years — and all the tribulations that came with that.
maybe ally…sees “SIX The Musical”
Ask me how long I've been waiting to see @sixbroadway! Not kidding I think I waited an entire year. Finally, all the timing came together and it being my birthday week was the icing on top. I had so much fun with SIX the Musical. Omg. Armand and I left with the biggest smiles on our faces and all the music in our brains.
maybe ally…sees “A Beautiful Noise”.
First show of the year for me. This one was more sentimental than any I've seen before. You see before my mom passed away she’d been eyeing A Beautiful Noise as her next trip to Broadway. She had me doing lotteries while she figured out the best time to see it.
maybe ally…sees “Here We Are”
It took me a few days to collect my thoughts on this one. Then my world stopped so I didn't get the chance to post about it. I won a lottery in December to see this unique piece of work. The final musical by Stephen Sondheim. It's directed by one of my favorite people Joe Mantello. This piece is creative. It's funny. It's stunning visually. I enjoyed it.
maybe ally...sees "Back to the Future: The Musical”.
If you've been here a while you knew this day was coming. Finally got to see Back to the Future The Musical on Broadway! It was a nice Sunday matinee at the theatre & the perfect way to end my solo weekend.
