Where do I begin with this beautiful show about the one and only Marc Summers? From his beginnings as a page on a variety of TV shows to his time hosting the world-famous Double Dare there wasn't any sugar coating to this story. One where in many cases I was shocked to learn new things about the man I had never known. It's a poignant story and told with such care by the man himself. It made hearing it all the more raw. Marc left nothing to the imagination. He wasn't afraid to tell us about life with OCD, his cancer treatment or even the car accident that thankfully didn't take him from us. Life kept throwing things at him and he always got back up. Marc is a case study of how to live with ultimate optimism. I mean that fully.

The show is brilliantly written by actor and playwright Alex Brightman (wonder how many shows he's involved in that I'll see this season! I'm up to three!). We listen intently to heartbreaking portions of Marc’s life & we also live out our nostalgia thanks to some incredible audience participation during a few Double-Dare games! Not kidding put your name in a bucket before the show starts and you may end up on stage living your childhood dreams!! It's a delicate balance that's pulled off seamlessly.

I can't stress enough how wonderful this show is. If you have some time to get off Broadway it's in its final weeks at New World Stages (ends June 2nd). Go learn a bit about one of America's favorite game show hosts. Go learn a lesson or two about valuing life and taking every chance you get to make it better. Promise you'll be inspired once you leave.

Well done Marc. Well done.
