maybe ally…Goes to Tokyo DisneySea

Hey Guys & Dolls!

Thanks for coming by. Today’s post will be all about Tokyo DisneySea. Let’s talk about all things DisneySea. Firstly, same as Tokyo Disneyland you’ll be taking a monorail to the park or about a 20 min walk from the train station (even less if you are on the property). You’ll enter the park and as always pick up an English map, and like the last article if you need help Guest Relations has English speaking folks in there to help you out. You most likely won’t need them though!

The most popular rides here are Soarin’ and Toy Story Mania. Both rides Armand and I skipped as they are carbon copies of the versions in the states (although I hear Soarin’ has something extra but to wait three hours wasn’t worth it for us). As with Disneyland, you’ll want to get a Fastpass for one and go run to the other to standby it. Once you’ve done those two (if you chose to) the park is yours. Your next bet is the Tower of Terror because that particular ride can get busy, not as much as the other two but its wait times can climb. We got lucky and hit a rainy day so I was able to FP it at an early enough time and not wait on a crazy line.

THE BASICS:

If you need a ticket guide click my previous post describing all ticket tiers here. Let’s get into the park details and tell you all about my favorite food and rides!

This park has seven different sea-related areas/ports. Let’s talk briefly about each one! I’ll go into as much detail as I can for each one. Let’s go!

Mediterranean Harbor:

This is literally the first area you see while walking into the park. It’s a beautiful area that is heavily Italian theme to it complete with gondolas and scenery that is easy on the eyes. This area is home to dining, shopping, and shows on the lagoon (get there early for those shows! you will not get a good spot otherwise). We did quite a bit of shopping in this area during our second trip over. The giant size of the lagoon allows for plenty of viewing space for water shows during the summer and of course Fantasmic!!.

It really is one of the most beautiful areas in the park. I highly suggest taking a few mins and getting a feel for it. Oh! and this is the area where you’ll find Soarin’ so beline it there in the morning if you want on it!

American Waterfront:

This area is home to a number of rides, shows, and activities. Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror and the S.S. Columbia just to name a few. There’s a stage in this area as well that features a very cute show. Also at The American Waterfront, you’ll find Duffy & friends characters at the Cape Cod area. These meet ‘n greets have longer lines than some of the rides here. It’s absolutely insane.

Port Discovery:

This was a cute area of the park. Here you’ll find the kind friendly and very adorable Nemo & Friends SeaRider! It’s a cute motion Simulator. Thing Star Tours bit giant and with water. You are shrunk down to fish size and explore the oceans with Nemo and crew. We got the front row on this one. So so cute. We didn’t get to ride Aquatopia!  as it was down for refurb. The ride is a trackless ride complete with rocks and effects that I’m sure to make you say wow!

We weren’t here for long as we didn’t feel the need to keep riding the Nemo ride and since there isn’t much else to do but look at the ocean we headed into a different area that was close by…

Lost River Delta:

This area is so amazing to look at. Complete with a Star Wars nod (you’ll know it when you see it) it’s a wonderful trip into the jungle. The ride featured here is  Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull. I shudder to hear that because if you saw the fourth film you’ll know how cringe it is. I was happy to see that it was pretty much a carbon copy of the ride in California. Whew! This version takes place in Mexico on the river delta and because of this, the snake on the ride is an Anaconda. I love the subtle changes.

The Raging Spirits roller coaster was down for refurb so we could not try that one out but dang those POVs on Youtube were something else. It’s very similar if not a copy of Disneyland Paris’ Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril.

There is also a show held in this area that we won a lottery for but we couldn’t film it. It was a wonderful experience!

Mermaid Lagoon:

Mermaid Lagoon is my literal dream. As someone who loves The Little Mermaid, I was in awe and didn’t want to leave. I spent as much time as I could there. This area is mostly indoors and consists of more child-friendly rides. There are friendly rides just outside the lagoon a cute coaster and another ride devoted to Scuttle. It’s when you enter inside that it really strikes you.

The indoor section features a show venue, gift stores, restaurant, and rides. The show was incredible. It’s all about King Triton and Sebastian putting on the show they tried to put on at the beginning of “The Little Mermaid”. Once again Ariel is missing. You get all of your favorite songs too with puppeteers and all. It’s a must-see with little to no wait times usually.

There are kid-friendly rides inside the lagoon-like Jumpin’ Jellyfish a ride that takes you up and down just like one. We went on that as well as another ride that swings around much like Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind ride at DCA.

I will never forget this incredible place. Not ever. I’m tearing up just thinking of it.

Arabian Coast:

My second favorite port at DisneySea easily. It was so rich in culture and food. The Arabian Coast is home to 3 attractions, food, and entertainment. It’s one of the bigger ports in the park because there is so much to do! I have an admiration for the culture so I wanted to stay here all day. There are also hints of “Aladdin” in this area complete with Jasmine’s Flying Carpets (not Aladdin’s! ha!).

There is a wonderful plaza that has games and unique souvenirs that you can bring home. I’m a big fan of bringing home exclusive merch and this is the port to do it in! There’s a Genie Lamp show as well as a Caravan Carousel it happens to be the world’s largest double-decker carousel. If I’m ever there again I’m getting on that sucker my fiance be damned.

It was a beautiful part of the park that I can’t wait to get to again.

Mysterious Island:

What a beautiful area. The rides you’ll find here are in my opinion the top two in the whole park. That would be 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth. Both are very different but do the same thing. They both explore the Mysterious Island area, one from below and one from above.

Mysterious Island has shops, restaurants the two rides mentioned above. One of my favs of the entire park is 20,000 Leagues under the sea. It is a suspended dark ride through an underwater world full of majestic creatures. Think Peter Pan’s flight but you’re “underwater”. There’s even a moment when you can control flashlights and shine them on monsters. How cute. Now Journey to the Center of the Earth takes you above land to experience some very scary monsters within the volcano. It’s a high-speed track ride, think Test Track but throughout Mysterious Island.

Some of our best photos came from this area of the park as well. Grab as many as you can before you go!

THE FOOD:

Oh My! All of the food! We ate very well at Tokyo DisneySea. In terms of snacks, the popcorn really kept us full. There were so many different flavors like Curry, Milk Chocolate, Strawberry and more! We made a fun game out if it trying to eat every flavor we could. We got pretty far. I personally skipped the Garlic Shrimp because I’m allergic.

We had a fantastic lunch in tHE Arabian Coast complete with chicken curry and a really sweet Monsters Inc. style green apple jello dessert. The chicken curry comes with white rice and pita bread. It was incredibly flavorful. As I stated before the popcorn was king for us here. So we snacked quite a bit along with churros.

There are so many treats it was impossible to try it all. There’s gotta be a challenge somewhere about it.

THE RIDES:

The best ride here, in my opinion, is both 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea & Journey to the Center of the Earth. I’m a bit biased with all the mermaid rides at the lagoon but actual rides…MY HEAVENS! I, of course, was not able to film or take photos on these rides. I was respecting the rules asked of me. To each their own though as I saw plenty of Americans blatantly not following this real for the sake of Instagram.

It was a real shame to me. I am one of following the rules of other cultures. Enough of that though. As stated before Mermaid Lagoon is for the kiddos, while Port Discovery is perfect for the kids to thanks to that really cute Finding Nemo ride.

The wait times weren’t too bad once you got past the bigger and more popular rides. If you learn the FP system you are golden. Play the game before it plays you!

We had a fantastic time at this park and I totally get it when people say this is the best Disney park in the world. When you give Imagineers the money and let their creativity flow these are the results. I happen to agree, this is the best Disney park I have ever been to so far. It’s incredible from front to back.
