maybe ally...sees "The Notebook”.

I’ll start with the obvious. Bring Tissues, Joy Woods is a star (you're listening to her sing while reading this btw!!) & Maryann Plunkett deserves the world — but we already knew that. Dorian Harewood is mesmerizing & Ingrid Michaelsons music & lyrics are beautiful and deserve much more recognition. I left that theatre broken but hopeful, sad but happy, open to the idea of great love but tearful about the inevitable endings. I was moved. Moved in a way I didn't expect and I'm all the better for it.

🎶 | Based on the novel that then turned into a movie (a huge one I may add) about Allie & Noah. Two people who have no business being together (says society) and yet an everlasting love is born. We travel through time in a way and get to hear the retelling of their story as it was written by Allie herself. Now older and with dementia as a way to remember their love. Who gets to read this story to her? An older Noah of course. Who ensures he is by his wife's side helping her remember on good days until the very end.

The Notebook was always for me this massive telling of how strong our bonds with people could be if we let it happen. If we let what we feel lead rather than the rules we are supposed to follow. I love the way this story is told here. We are allowed feel and to digest what those feelings are. I always believed Allie & Noah represent fears in life and how to overcome them. Allie’s fears are woven through each stage of life and how Noah is the one who helps her overcome them. The fear of falling in love, the fear of the choices you make for that love, the fear of losing that love in ways you can't control. How love helps her even if just for a moment. All were performed beautifully by exceptional actors. It can't be easy to perform this materially 8 times a week and they make it look easy.

🖤 | Every once in a blue, a show comes along that forces you to look within and find your soul. It's impactful, relevant, and important to our time. Go see it.
