MidSize Shopping: Brands I'm Wearing Lately.

To be a size 12-14 is so challenging at times. I’m a Large in one store while I fit better in XL in others. I’ve gained some of my weight back from when I lost a ton 3 years ago so my sizing is really all over the place. I’m a solid 185lb right now and plan on loosing some as the end of the year approaches. If I could get to a 10-12 like I was in 2021 and maintain it I’m ok! This post isn’t about that though! It’s about where i’m shopping lately!

This is going to be a pretty lengthy post for good reason! I want to talk about what i’ve been into but I also want to allow for a little shopping if you feel like it. Most links are affiliate codes and I make a small commission on them so if you’d like to shop with me click through them. I also recently opened up a shop page. You can check that out here.

So check out the entire post below. See what shops i’m loving, what I’ve been shopping for and even some links to some pieces I think you might love

A few tips before you head out:

1: Make sure you know your size. You will be amazed at how often women of all sizes can easily buy the wrong size and end up having to make a return. Know your body and know what size you generally fit into. It is vital for curvier ladies to know this and understand it. Some stores like Old Navy and Banana Republic do have vanity sizing, in those instances, you'll find yourself a medium when in fact you're still large. So having a general idea will save you.

2: Know what you're looking for. A dress? ok or some jeans? that's cool too. It'll save you time. Nothing is worse than a purchase you'll regret as soon as you walk out. It's kind of like going to Duane Reade. If you don't know what you're getting you'll

walk out with things you didn't mean to buy and yet here you are and you forgot what you initially went in for.

3: Most important. Be comfortable. Don't start this search in heels. Don't wear too much makeup either. You want to be ready to try on clothing so make it easy for yourself. This is plus size shopping it's going to take a while so be ready.

H&M:

I Love and hate H&M. They’ve got a lot of nice pieces but it’s a chore to shop in store. It seems like they rarely go past 12 in store and I often find myself having to shop online. I speak mostly for the New York City stores because when i’m out of state I find locations with dedicated plus areas and I feel so welcomed. Still I find pieces and when I do I grab them quickly. The linen blazer i’m wearing below was one such item I happened upon at the location at Columbus Circle.

Take a look at what i’m loving at H&M lately:

Old Navy:

I’m telling the emergency pants story again!

While in Philly I had to buy them at Old Navy at 10 am because I didn't bring the right thing for one night there. You would have laughed seeing me in a Dr. Who dress and a J.Crew trench coat desperate for warmth and grabbing the first size 14 I could find!

Didn't even care about the cut (pretty sure these are straight leg) or the wash. I just wanted jeans that would rub my thighs for the day. I mean look at me. I have a body lol my thighs touch (trust me I love that!). In the end, I ended up loving them. Worn them a few times now and I love the shape they give me.

Here are some pieces from Old Navy:

Nasty Gal:

Depending on my size Nasty Gal can be hit or miss. They’ve recently bought into more plus sizing but man those first few years were ROUGH. Never found anything I would like and when I did I would barely fit it. I recently went skirt shopping and found a few on NG I loved! This beige number below is a favorite! More importantly it FIT!

Here are a few other skirts I love from NG:

Stoney Clover/ Tiger & Eloise:

Now You all know the love I have for Stoney Clover Lane. If you need a reminder check out this throwback blog post! & this one from my time in their New Orleans location. They not only carry travel organizers but the cutest notebooks you could use in office space as well. I love the clothing they sell as well. Over the years i’ve grabbed hats, t-shirts & sweatshirts along with sweatpants. Take a look at some of my favorite pieces:

Here’s what I grabbed from the Tomato Collection:

About Tiger & Eloise:

“Tiger & Eloise is the perfect blend of comfort & style: comfy enough to stay in, cute enough to go out. Our soft-system of anything-but-basic sweats make even the laziest day a luxury and every day feel like the weekend. With something soft for every occasion, the possibilities are endless.

I personally haven’t shopped their capsule yet but I hear nothing but amazing things. So for now i’ll give you guys a tiny wishlist of things I’d love to own one day:

TARGET:

This place has been a go-to for just about everything I ever needed. True story if I can’t find It and need right away I’ll go to Target because most likely what I need is there. My usual location is on 98th in Columbus Ave. but they don’t have clothing there so I shop at the location near Columbus Circle much more. They’ve usually got the limited edition collections with designers. From Tabitha Brown to DVF you’ll find something very cool at a Target.

Visit Target.com for a whole lot of favs. Check out Ava & Viv as well as Universal Thread.

Klassy Network:

Klassy Network mostly sells wearable shapewear. The dress below and the glitter bodysuit are just a few pieces I purchased online that I LOVE. These pieces cinch the waist in a bit and give you a wonderful shape. The glitter bodysuit is V-Shaped and very low cut so it’s revealing but sexy. I found them over on Instagram while I was searching for bodysuits and never looked back.

Here’s what I’m into lately:

NY&CO.:

I just recently got into NY&CO. a part of me always thought it was for working women (office settings!) and that’s not something I have been in years. When they had a big summer sale a few months ago I took it as a shot to try and I found so much that worked in my closet! The purple linen blazer below is just the tip of the iceberg. It quickly grew into one of my favorite places to shop.

Take a look at some of my recent favorites:

ZARA:

So, who here has shopped at Zara before? Admittedly there was a time in my life where I couldn’t. I was a 2XL. Zara can run very small at times and so it wasn’t a place I shopped at. One health journey later and boom! I decided to make a personal choice and try out Zara. I’ve gained some of that weight back so Zara isn’t always the first choice anymore but will be again i’m sure.

Here’s what I’ve been eyeing at Zara lately:

ASOS:

I’m an ASOS girl for life. I’ve been shopping with them since college.

We believe in a world where you have total freedom to be you, without judgement. To experiment. To express yourself. To be brave and grab life as the extraordinary adventure it is. So we make sure everyone has an equal chance to discover all the amazing things they’re capable of – no matter who they are, where they’re from or what looks they like to boss. We exist to give you the confidence to be whoever you want to be.

I feel very on trend and fashionable when I’m in a piece from ASOS. They are very good are keeping up with niche trends but also live for the basics as well.

So that’s just a quick taste of the brands i’m loving. Would you shop at any of these places?
