Happening in October.

Hi Guys & Dolls!

Can you believe it’s already October? I certainly can’t! Unlike the past few months which felt slow, my October calendar is now pretty full of some exciting events and activities that I can’t wait to share and blog about with all of you.

Let’s take a closer look at all the fantastic things I have lined up for this October in the vibrant city of New York, including a special reveal of my Halloween costume idea (will it happen? I don’t know!). Halloween has always been my mother’s favorite holiday. She truly loved to play dress-up, and I plan on continuing her cherished tradition by dressing up every year.

This first Halloween without her will be particularly tough and emotional, but I know I can get through it with the supportive help of my wonderful friends and loving family.

Here’s what I have planned for October 2024:

Shows:

Guys & Dolls! If you’ve known me for a while you know my love of Synthwave & Retrowave music is high up there! I was supposed to see The Midnight last year but the person I was supposed to go with couldn’t go and so since I was the plus one and didn’t have the money to buy the tickets from them I didn’t go. I promised to rectify that if they ever returned to New York City. So when I heard about this show on October 4th at Terminal 5 I never bought tickets faster! I’m so excited to see them @ Chromeo! I hope to hear “Gloria” because that’s my favorite song by The Midnight. Let’s see.

  • Sunset Boulevard:

NICOLE SCHERZINGER stars as the immortal Norma Desmond in ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’s legendary SUNSET BLVD., reimagined by visionary director JAMIE LLOYD. The New York Times declares, “This bravura new revival belongs to the here and now. Nicole Scherzinger gives a career-defining performance.” And The Washington Post hails, “This killer production is theater at its devilish best. It slays you.”

  • McNeal:

Jacob McNeal (Academy Award® winner Robert Downey Jr.) is a great writer, one of our greatest, a perpetual candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature. But McNeal also has an estranged son, a new novel, old axes to grind and an unhealthy fascination with Artificial Intelligence. Pulitzer Prize-winner Ayad Akhtar’s new play is a startling and wickedly smart examination of the inescapable humanity – and increasing inhumanity – of the stories we tell. Directed by Tony Award® winner Bartlett Sher.

I’m pretty excited about both shows. Admittedly more for Nicole in Sunset because I’ve heard nothing but stunning things about her performance. McNeal is a tough sell because of A.I. but i’m always down for theatre that makes you think critically. I’ll make sure to have both reviews up as soon as I see them. You can read more of my theatre posts here.

Other Things I’d like to Try/Go-to:

So that’s a wrap on everything happening in my life for the month! I can’t believe there’s so much to do and so many exciting opportunities ahead. I’m genuinely happy to be busier than usual, as it provides a wonderful distraction from the daily routine. New York comes alive in the fall, and especially in October, with its vibrant colors and festive atmosphere. I’m eagerly looking forward to the colder weather, the intriguing spooky vibes that Halloween brings, and, of course, enjoying warm hot toddies with friends!
